Photography constructs, re-shapes and creates our vision of the world. Photographs both capture a slice of reality and also change how we conceive it. Some of our earliest memories are triggered by photographs -- some may even be created by the photographs themselves. As Susan Sontag says, photography both records and invents the past. It frames certain aspects of the world while excluding others. Photographs bestow importance and give weight to our vantage point, and create our common vision.
